The people behind SPLASH monitoring
SPLASH Monitoring was developed by a team of highly respected, skilled engineers and technicians and included educational representatives. Leading this team was Ian Sumner, Technical Director of Engineering Consultancy, Energy Conscious Design. Ian is a Chartered Building Services Engineer and is recognised as New Zealand's leading solar water heating designer. Ian has over 20 years experience in the solar industry in both the UK and New Zealand and has a proven ability to provide creative, simple solutions to challenging problems.
Ian was initially a plumber in the UK and returned to University in London, graduating in 1996 with a First Class Honours degree in "Energy Engineering", energy conservation in buildings and mechanical building services with projects completed on trying to get solar water heating to be cost effective in the UK. Ian worked with BRECSU, the Building Research Energy Conservation Support Unit in the UK, before emigrating to New Zealand working as a Mechanical Building Services Engineer, establishing Energy Conscious Design in 2003 and SPLASH Monitoring in 2010.
